Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actor, is well-known for her performance in films and on television since the mid 1980s. She has received various honors, including two Golden Globe Awards as well as sixteen NAACP Image Awards. Since the mid 80s Angela Evelyn has appeared on film and television. Her work has been recognized with many awards, including the 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Her birthplace was and raised at home in New York New York. Bassett was able to move with her younger sister to St. Petersburg Florida at five years old to be near their mother and father, who had separated from their dad. Bassett was in high school when watched James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck production Of Mice and Men and realized that her desire of being an actor had come true. After graduating at Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree with a major in African American Studies, she was able to obtain an MA (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. She was introduced to Courtney B. Vance, a fellow actress at Yale and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Bachelor of Arts (Afro-American Studies) in 1980.
